Depletion (2019)

recycled household textiles, balloon, helium, concrete.

Depletion was a part of Non-Archival—a group exhibition at the Fifth Parallel Gallery in 2019 showcasing the ephemeral.

Depletion conveys the limpness of living with depression and anxiety. The figure is rooted to the ground- immovable. There is a certainty of it’s depletion, which brings a frustrating desire to energize and activate. Despite the will to change, it has been weakened, and simple tasks are strenuous. Simultaneously, there is a comfort in the slow, fixed descent of the figure, that mimics the safety in remaining in a familiar, though lethargic, pattern.
