Artist Statement

Informed by years of devised theatre creation, Alixx’s creative practice revolves largely around exploration—curiosity and play are fundamental to their process. They explore the relationships between disciplines, incorporating a wide range of materials and technique including soft sculpture, moldmaking, printmaking, makeup artistry, design, computational art, and performance. By focusing on texture and colour, they create visceral images, structures and moments. Common themes in their work are shame and trauma. Alixx’s work is often confessional, and by nature is intimate and vulnerable. It is the result of their persistent internal exploration and aims to physicalize these experiences, translating the depths of the human psyche into a tangible form.
